PULLING THE PLUG ON ELECTRICAL WASTE!

Website FAQ

  1. Q. Why can't I just dump my WEEE in a container at a CA site?

    A. Because this is now illegal. It should either be placed in special, designated, areas at CA sites or other Designated Collection Facilities, or collected by an authorised WEEE collections operator. REVAMP operates both these services.

  2. Q. Why must businesses follow different rules on WEEE to householders?

    A. That's the way the Government wants it. Retailers and Distributors have been given a substantial role in WEEE recovery in the B2C sector, but given the lack of high-street B2B presence the operation is structured differently for businesses.

  3. Q. How do I know which Compliance Scheme will authorise collection of my WEEE at no charge to me?

    A. You don't need to know. The retailer will have this information.

  4. Q. Why won't any Compliance Scheme pay for collection of my WEEE?

    A. Most likely because it is 'historic' – i.e. it predates the initial eligibility date for inclusion in new arrangements, set by the DTI at 13 August 2005.

  5. Q. What is 'obligated' WEEE?

    A. It is WEEE which will be collected, transported and recycled at the expense of the Compliance Scheme of which the manufacturer of the EEE that displaces the WEEE is a member.

  6. Q. What is 'Non-obligated WEEE?'

    A. WEEE which falls outside the scope of the definition of 'obligated WEEE'.

  7. Q. Will you collect from my business premises even if not in the Bristol area?

    A. Definitely, if your premises have a BS, BA, DT, SN, SP or TA postcode. We will also collect from GL5, GL8, GL9, GL11, GL12, and GL13.

  8. Q. How much do you charge?

    A. Follow this link to our illustrative tariff.

  9. Q. How quickly can you respond to my request to collect my WEEE?

    A. If within the BS and BA postcode areas, within one week; if in the others listed at question 7, within three weeks.

  10. Q. My WEEE might be contaminated. What should I do?

    A. Consult the Environment Agency for advice – 01278 484759
